School Hours and Morning Routine
Our school hours are 7:30 a.m. to 2:35 p.m., Monday through Friday. The main doors open at 7:00 am for breakfast, and students are welcomed each morning with a smile and a friendly fist bump. Instruction begins promptly at 7:30 a.m., so it is important that students arrive on time and ready to learn. Dismissal begins at 2:25 p.m.
Strong Start to the Day
To set a positive tone and support student well-being, all students participate in Strong Start activities each morning. These include a daily, school-wide Morning Meeting that helps build community, foster meaningful connections, and promote social-emotional growth. Each classroom also observes a Minute of Silence and engages in other calming, reflective practices to help students mentally prepare for the day ahead.
These routines are vital for creating a focused, respectful, and supportive learning environment. Please make every effort to ensure your child arrives on time so they can fully benefit from these important experiences and begin each day with a strong start.
Arrival and Departure Locations
All cars arriving/departing for school should enter the driveway closest to the building. During dismissal, the second lane is reserved for daycare vans. We ask that you remain in your vehicle and wait for your child to come to you. If you would like to pick your child up at the door, please park in the parking lot or on a sidestreet.
Attendance
Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory for student success. To receive instruction, a student must be in class. There is no way to make up the instruction presented on any specific day. A good education requires continuity of instruction. We will follow all School Board Policies regarding attendance. There is a limited number of days a student may be absent before retention in a grade level is mandated. If your child is ill and unable to attend class, please contact the school office (918-925-1300). He/she must make arrangements with the teacher to make up class work for the day/days missed.
Students Late for School
Students arriving at or after 8:00 a.m. will be given a tardy slip, which will serve as their pass to class. Frequent tardiness—whether excused or unexcused—disrupts learning for both the student and their classmates by interrupting the flow of instruction. To support your child’s success and encourage a strong work ethic, please ensure they arrive on time, prepared, and ready to learn each day. Students who arrive more than two hours late will be marked absent for half of the school day.
Early Release of Students
Early check-outs must be completed no later than 2:00 p.m. Adults picking up students must present a valid photo ID and be listed on the student’s approved pick-up list. Once verified, the student will be called from the classroom to the office, and all students must be signed out through the front office.
Students are expected to stay on campus for the entire school day unless proper check-out procedures have been followed. Dismissal begins at 2:25 p.m. Early pick-ups can interrupt the learning environment and cause students to miss important end-of-day instruction. Whenever possible, please schedule medical appointments outside of school hours. If a student is picked up more than one hour before dismissal, they will be marked absent for half of the day.
